I am glad you took the time to record your thoughts and feelings. I have been a fan of Jane Austen's novels for some time so your elucidation of what surprises are in store for first time readers is extremely valuable.

However, I think you will find that the genius of Jane Austen's stories is that you are surprised every time. That Maria Rushworth should kick over the traces . . . that Mrs. Norris's true character would be exposed . . . that Fanny and Rdmund would find the love they both deserve . . . each time I re-read this novel or indeed any work of true genius, I am surprised all over again. Will Frodo and Sam make it to Mount Doom?

Thank you for sharing your notes with us. I, too, enjoed this group read and I cannot wait for the next one!
