THen sorry but you're wrong... Edward Austen Knight was still part of his birth family, visited them and remained in contact, and he did help his mother and sisters when they were older and pooorer, by giving thtem a cottage on his land.
I think that you're imposing 21st C ideas about families on the Austens.. It wasnt uncommon for children to be reared in relatives' houses, boys were sent away to school very young, or to apprenticeships if htey were of a lower class.
