I've been thinking on this too.   Written by WendyBri (10/21/2010 7:01 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, If Fanny had married Henry this wouldn't have happened?, penned by Angela L
Are you new?

A recent biography reading about JA made me wonder what I would find on this re-reading of MP. The author of the biography said that Fanny should have married Henry and Edmund should have married Mary. His argument (and I'll have to go get the book and re-read that section) was almost persuasive. Almost.

I think Angela L has the right of it...eventually he would have grown bored and run of, if not with Maria, then with someone else. I don't think he's ever truly in "love" with Fanny, I think he's infatuated with her...she's a challenge.

(Interestingly enough, the discussion of what love is has been a big discussion for me and my fiance since we became engaged a couple weeks ago...fits nicely with MP!)
