well quite honestly I dont beleive that Mrs Norris would have managed better. She might have managed the money better but her children woudl problaby have been utterly miserable

I agree that Mrs Price isn't a wonderful mothter but I think that Fanny AND Austen dont make enuogh allownace for her situation...

And I think, as I've said, that neither Fanny NOR Austen note that the Bertrams dont behave a lot better than the young Prices nor are they better taught or managed (Edmund apart) by their elders. Lady B has no interest in managing or looking after her children.. she's abandoned them to Mrs Norris... THey may be less noisy and have better table manners but are they essentailly any better?
