..how crass Mary is to her core. I agree with Ramya that she has that "us vs. them" mentality, and plays it naturally, but this letter also proves how contemptuous she is of Edward's profession and Maria's marriage. I know some people have commented on her flippant remarks before, but I wonder if she's being just flippant or is disdainful, as you say.
