in consequence of the missive, I Did Not Care For This Either, penned by BarbaraB
Miss Austen showcases the contrasts between the "imposter" gentleman and the "true" gentleman in the way they treat Fanny. Henry has no idea of Fanny's temperament, delicacy, and shyness as he assaults her sensitivities like he probably did with former female conquests because those tactics "worked" with others but Fanny is unlike any lady he has ever dealt with.
I'm also annoyed with All of the Bertrams because if they had included Fanny more and treated her with the respect that was due her they would have at least had an inkling of a clue that she would NEVER be happy with Mr. Crawford......and they could have spared the misery of pressuring her to marry Mr. Crawford (arrrghh!!)
