Well spotted Erica. I had not noticed that repetitive verbal tic of hers before you mentioned it.

Truth to tell, I was getting so fed up with her relentless spiteful nastiness that I started skimming over her speeches so that she would not annoy me so much. I wonder if that might be an intentional effect on JA's part.

What a relief it is to see how Sir Thomas' opinion of her has changed since he returned from Antigua. I cheer whenever he sidelines her or overrules her ill-natured suggestions.
