sorry but I really dont think that SIr T is likely to think that way.. yes in his good moments he's fond of Fanny and kind to her, but a lot of the time he's preoccupied iwht his own problems and he's not going to worry too much whether his neice is in love iwth this rich young man who has fortuitously come along and offered ot marry her...
He can't understand why she should be reluctant.. and while I think if she couuld have shown him that Henry was haivng an affair with Maria, that would make him change his mind.. but to tell him of a flirtation, I think he'd just react with "oh nonsese, you're just making this up because you dont wnat to marry him, and who are you to criticse my daughters anyway.."
nad he would feel that she had no right ot turn down such a good offer, (esp when it would relieve him of providing for her).
