As I understand the text, at the time Sir Thomas sells the Mansfield living to Dr Grant, I think there were some issues with the Bertram finances, partially due to Tom's debts and partly due to issues with the Antigua estates. However, Sir T went to Antigua to straigten things out there, and presumably had succeeded in doing so before his return to England, so I assume things are now okay financially.
