I had never thought about it in terms of "power". But it is possibly true that her reticence, integrity and enduring will to stick to her principles may be a certain source of power.

Your example with discrediting Henry and Maria is good. It would have been very simple to discredit them during Fanny's conversation with Sir Thomas. But she doesn't.

It's definitely food for thought.
