I dont know what the hairstyle was but I very much doubt if Fanny woudl go in for a short haircut...I can see Mrs N stamping on that idea that F might dress in the extremes of fashion like her cousins! Perhaps it was jsut more curled and William thought it was a bit "outre" on the Gibraltar ladies...

but I think that Mary says that F has her hair done a bit differently and has a new dress and that's why Henry has begun to notice her...
