Sorry but I think that MP IS Dull... there is a torpor about it symbolised by Lady B on her sofa...


I dont think that there was "no laughter" in the place when Sir T was in charge but still, I think that without meaning to be, perhaps he IS a dampener...But to Fanny a quiet place where seh's not unkindly treated is all that she aspires to...so she's not that consicous of it...

I think that even Edmund, who like Fanny is not all that interested in parties or that sort of enjoyment was attracted to Mary because she represented a sort of gaiety and sense of fun that was lacking previously in his life...
Perhaps if she had nto come around, he would not have been conscious of the lack of it... but she did...Even Fanny is a litlte excited by the "bustle" that the play and the Crawfords create...
