*There is significant meaning in the use of language: Julia saying that staying within her group (w/ Mrs. Rushworth in particular) was a 'penance'; Julia refusing to 'punish' herself for her sister's 'sins'.

*Maria crossing the ha-ha/ditch is a transgression for she is doing something that would be seen as forbidden.

*The wanderings in the wilderness made me think of the forty days/forty nights and the Israelites and their years of wandering but several sources that I have since looked at say it alludes more specifically to Eden with its serpentine paths and temptations.

*The improvement discussions have a lot to do with politics. I think I might have gone into it a bit during the P&P GR in the discussion of nature/art, can't remember for sure, but there is a lot of meaning there. Sorry, it's not something I can get into at this time but thought I'd mention it.

*A couple of things that I'd like to mention are used to foreshadow so I will have to refrain at this point. I will try to remember to come back and point them out.
