Difficult to respond to this without *spoilers*   Written by jeffrey (9/28/2010 4:02 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ch 24 - Is Henry (dare I say it)......., penned by Lisa Dalrymple

You've cited one of the finest paragraphs in the book which illuminates one of Fanny's greatest assets: The capacity to love and be loved.

Perhaps in Henry's young life he has never met a woman like Fanny With her quiet sweet disposition, moral sense, and that great capacity for affection which may cause his plan to ricochet!

Heretofore, women were probably only interested in Henry's fortune and he may be expecting the same from Fanny, until he realizes a definite superiority in her.
