It is a very good match for Maria. If she was not romantic, like someone in another novel who married for a comfortable home and not love, she could make it work. Oh, wait - Maria isn't marrying Sotherton, she's marrying Mr. Rushworth. I think she would be happier with Sotherton. LOL

I never noticed that line that you pointed out - that she pledged herself anew to Sotherton. I think that line says it all.
