LOL!! But what a good thing....   Written by Rachel G (9/27/2010 7:55 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Striking out a repartee on Edmund's behalf, penned by Tom P2
Are you new?

.... that Edmund has you to strike out a repartee on his behalf. As he says in ch.9:

"there is not the least wit in my nature. I am a very matter–of–fact, plain–spoken being, and may blunder on the borders of a repartee for half an hour together without striking it out.”
Edmund has many fine qualities, but my goodness he's a dreary fellow! He is my least favourite among JA's heroes, and it is mainly his lack of wit that repels me. The prospect of being immured for life in a country parsonage with a man who never ever cracks a joke is enough to render me almost as comatose as Lady Bertram.

Come to think of it, Sir Thomas is as humourless as Edmund. I wonder if that might have some bearing on Lady B's mental state? ;-D
