The only mention of letters in this chapter is Lady Bertram's response to Mrs. Norris' statement about Sir Thomas's straitened means:


"Oh! That will soon be settled. Sir Thomas has been writing about it, I know." Her confidence in Sir Thomas' correspondence is touching & amusing.
