Liking Maria best and flirting   Written by Bridget D (9/25/2010 1:24 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I understood what he meant, penned by Ramya
Are you new?

I can sort of see that possbibly a man who wasn't sure of himself MIGHT use flirting or being friendly with the sister or friend of the girl he (problaby) liked best, but as a blind... not out of inadvertence.

I thnk it would be more in the spirit of "I think I like Maria best, but Im not sure and I dont want to get caught... so I'll pay some attention to her sister to throw dust in everyone's eyes, until Im sure of myself or until my visit is over.."
I dont think it woudl be an innocent procedure on hte part of the man.. and to an extent that is what Henry does, flirt with boht so that both are vying for his attentions, nobody is quite sure what he is doing and he hasn't paid quite enough attention to either girl to get himself "caught"...
I think taht Edmund is just trying to justify Henry's odd behaviour...

But in a way possibly something like that happens to him. He is courting Mary, but Fany is often there, and in a sense perhaps he grows to love Fanny while still consciously being involved with Mary... Of course it coudl also be as it is a very awkward situation such as when he and Mary boht use Fanny as acting coach.. Basically not well done!
