Henry's motives.   Written by Rachel G (9/22/2010 5:06 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Sporting with the Miss Bertrams, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

Good close reading Robbin.

Henry is the most horrible flirt imaginable (ch.4), and he's just carrying on in his usual way with the Miss Bertrams. The thing I really don't get about his game-playing is what his motives are. What satisfaction can he derive from his behaviour?

I don't think it is just lust - he isn't likely to get the young ladies in question into bed, and we don't hear of him compromising every dairymaid in the district.

Is his problem an undersized ego or something? Can his behaviour be attributed to his short stature?

Can anyone explain Henry's motives?
