Similar characters.   Written by Rachel G (9/20/2010 7:12 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Not I., penned by Julie P.
Are you new?

Yes - there are definite similarities between Henry's and Willoughby's ways of operating, but there are major differences in the way JA chose to present the two characters. With Willoughby the flaws are scarcely apparent in the first half of the novel - mere hints detectable by close reading, but Henry's flaws are clearly stated as soon as he appears on-stage. Maybe there is some character development of Henry later in the story.
