Are you new?

A lot of people believe that Fanny is a weakling and use her crying or her reticence to speak up as evidence. I thought that too when I first read the book, but several re-reads have changed my mind. Obviously, I won't go into why, because that would spoiling the story for any newbies, but I definitely don't think that way anymore.
