Are you new?

that Jane Austen always conveniently omits any grandparents to current characters. They always seem deceased. In this case, the Ward sisters may have been looked after by an uncle. I wonder at why Austen did this all the time - for plot simplicity's sake? And funny, in the back of my mind I was always thinking of Mrs. Norris and second eldest, but I see that is not the case.
