Enjoyed being avowedly useful   Written by Catherine Ann (9/17/2010 8:41 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lady Bertram a bore to anyone but Fanny?, penned by jeffrey
Are you new?

I think a large part of her pleasure in Lady Bertram's company comes from her apparent usefulness to Lady B. Not only is she absently kind to Fanny, but she is genuinely pleased to have Fanny with her. Not that someone else couldn't perform in her place just as well, but it makes Fanny feel wanted to be able to read to her and talk with her.
