Chapter 6 includes an interesting exchange regarding landscape and landscape alterations. Having a background in horticulture, the passages were extremely interesting to me and also said a great deal about the personalities of those involved in the discussion. Mr. Rushworth does indeed come-off sounding "heavy" in thought--talking about taking "down" an avenue of trees. Absolutely no appreciation for the age and beauty of trees, he certainly is a dolt and a "slave to fashion".
Fanny's response has me cheering, "Cut down an avenue! What a pity! Does it not make you think of Cowper? 'Ye fallen avenues, once more I mourn your fate unmerited.'"
