This novel is funny!

It is dreary and oppressive in places, but it is also IMO one of Jane Austen's funniest. The humour is not as obvious as in some of her other novels, so it's more appreciated after several reads! If I dared tell... sometimes I even find Fanny's excessive weakness comical. Is there a chance that Jane Austen was being deliberately ironic there? (Forgive me if I am very saucy). |
