Heavy Mr Rushworth   Written by Isabelle M (9/15/2010 2:07 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mr. Rushworth!, penned by Carol
Are you new?

This description of Mr Rushworth also caught my attention: "a heavy young man" and next "there was nothing to displease in his figure".

So, "heavy" is not the equivalent of, say, "weighty"? If Mr Rushworth is said to have a good figure, he is not likely to be overweight.

Does "heavy" refer to his lack of quickness and subtlety, an equivalent of "thick" for instance?

Thanks!
