I've been trying to figure out why Mrs. Norris who instigated the breach with Frances would want to help her out. It always seemed to me that the disagreement was so severe between the sisters that there would be no reason for someone with Mrs. Norris' character to want to repair it. But increasing her power within the family could be a reasonable motivation.
