No error.   Written by Rachel G (9/13/2010 6:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Did JA error in making Fanny So Timid?, penned by Patricia AA
Are you new?

MP would certainly be a very different read if Fanny had been a "woman of spirit" at the start of the novel.

I hope I am not making any spoilers if I say that I think MP is one of the most accomplished works that JA wrote, and I am very sure that she knew exactly what she was about when she made Fanny a shy, timid and rather plain little girl at the start of the novel.

You raise a thought provoking question though, but one that is difficult to discuss without referring to developments later in the story. May I suggest that you raise it again at the end of the group read, when I think it could be the basis for some very interesting discussion.
