A couple of focuses   Written by Nicki (9/13/2010 6:03 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Welcome to the Mansfield Park Group Read!, penned by Carol
Are you new?

Thanks to the moderators in advance! This promises to be a lot of fun - I think of all JA's novels, this will be one of the most interesting to read in depth.

I was struggling to come up with a focus and had a quick chat with one of my friends who absolutely loves MP. She suggested that Henry Crawford is the impetus for every major event that occurs in the novel, so I'd like to see how he affects the dynamics at Mansfield.

As a sort of side focus, I want to make up my mind on whether Edmund deserves Fanny by the end. Does his need for a serious SUTH outweigh his goodness to Fanny?

This will be more interesting to me because I'll be following the story on audiobook, lacking a paper copy while I'm in Germany and having recently treated myself to it on Audible. That said, I'll probably read the online text too, but you sometimes notice things on audiobook that you can miss while reading.
