From what I have read about sexual relations in marriage at that time in history, it was something that was expected that both partners would engage in regardless of whether they were in love or attracted to each other. It wasn't seen in the romantic light we see it in today. But I take your point that if she showed her shewish side it could have put the damper on whatever sexual impulses he had left!
