in consequence of the missive, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, penned by Nancy Ann
I'm honestly getting a little tired of all the 'hooligans' in Huckleberry Finn. I didn't remember so many of them and had no idea I'd get so weary of them! One after another! There seems to be a charlatan, a con artist, and a hypocrite around every corner of Huck's life on the river...and I'm sure Twain had it right! Some are cruel too...and so many of the townspeople are so stupid and gullible and thus easy targets! Wow, I find I'm weary of them all by now (beginning Chapter 28 tonight)...and can't divest myself of the King and the Duke quickly enough! In fact, I'll be good and ready for this river journey to end altogether! I feel over-exposed to the unsavory people of the world by this reading...I must not have much tolerance for it. My own reaction is something of a surprise to me, as the book is wonderfully written...it's the type of people that Twain is pointing out to us that I'm fed up with!
