|Probably my favorite novel (spoilers for a 129 year old novel)

I have never read anything to quite compare with this wonderful story by the truly amazing Mark Twain. Before I had kids and had more time, I used to re-read it once a year or so - though it's been probably about a decade since I last got all the way through it.
Huck's voice draws you in instantly and you are right there with him throughout the whole journey. He is simultaneously tough and tender, wise and naive, full of plain common sense and yet superstitious, and always hilarious.

So much more I could say, as there is a lot happening beneath the surface, but I'll stop there for now. Twain, Austen, Dickens, and Shakespeare are more or less the only writers I'm tempted to re-read.
