I read an extract of MATB yesterday (there are further extracts to be read today and tomorrow in The Times). From the bit that I have read the widowed Bridget, coping with life as a single mom of two and infant and junior school mom politics, with a toy boy in the picture has plenty of scope for light hearted humour as well as little bits of pathos. I wouldn't write MATB off if you are a fan of Bridget.
I liked the film versions of the Bridget books but haven't read BJD or TEOR but I might borrow this novel from the library.
