This is the title of a new book I just brought home from my local library. It's written by British authors, Roy & Lesley Adkins, and is a detailed social history of early 19th century English life. I'm already enjoying the first few pages. From the book jacket:
"Jane Austen's England is an enthralling and authoritative account of how people worked, played and struggled to survive, and is an illuminating, enriching companion to the great Austen novels."
So far, it looks good. Also nicely illustrated.
