The first thing JA did was convey thanks to Mrs. Hunter for the threadpaper she had sent. Clearly, this has something to do with sewing, and I found the following definitions online, but not being a seamstress myself, still have trouble visualizing what it might look like or why someone might have to send it, since to my ignorant mind it sounds like something you could easily make yourself (?). Also, would this have been the precursor of spools of thread?
Wordnik.com: n. A strip of thin soft paper prepared for wrapping up a skein of thread, which is laid at length and rolled up in a generally cylindrical form.
