Well I think you say it pretty well Rachel G—JA possessed intelligence (yes!) and clarity of perception (yes!) combined with fundamental kindness (yes!) and consideration (yes!); this is all true and they do seem to be contrasting characteristics because IMHO they do not always come together. IMHO JA is a genius but I don’t think arrogant. She thinks and writes rather harsh comments about people but it seems she never suffered people “in general” to hear it. Retuning to the spinning wheel, JA is too kind to tell Mrs. Knight the real reason she does not want it and as just last week I was almost the recipient of unwanted kindness I just cannot help wondering how she got into the situation. In fit of niceness I admired the wrong thing and suddenly it could have been mine. (:D)
