More gallows humour in 74   Written by Stephanie (8/24/2011 9:16 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Letter 71: A joke that rubs me the wrong way, penned by Line
Are you new?

It seems that a hanging, whether as capital punishment, or suicide, recurred often enough in Jane Austen's more light-hearted treatment to be marked.

I do not suppose you like this mention better than the first that irritated you, but I am afraid I must thank you for pointing it out to me, or I might not have noticed such a plethora on one rather morbid topic in such a narrow collection.

Did Author Austen ever treated the subject frivolously in her fiction? I can not think of a single example right now!
