I doubt that this is prejudice against remarriage. Her brother Henry married a widow (cousin) Elizabeth Hancock.

There might be some scandal attached, not mentioned in the letters.
I feel it has to do with the name Sondes. The name may carry a scandal which is why Jane remarks about 'christening' of *this* name.
