Note to Letter 67 on Aunt Fatty.   Written by Mandy N (8/17/2011 10:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Hmm..., penned by gianni
Are you new?

To Cassandra Austen. From Southampton to Godmersham. Monday 30 January. 1809.

Aunt Fatty. This was the Bridges nickname for Miss Isabella Fielding. JA wrote 'Fanny', no doubt from force of habit, and then added two ts heavily over the two ns [in Fanny].
The fire was at St James's Palace on Saturday, 21 Jan. 1809.

This footnote to Letter 67 on Aunt Fatty appears in Deidre Le Faye. 'Jane Austen's Letters'. Notes to Letter 67. (pp.399-400.)

Hope this may help.
