A boy doing cross-stitch Written by Line (8/14/2011 1:12 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Re: Letter 64, penned by Rachel G

I was struck by this too. We are so used to thinking there was a strict division of activities between the sexes, but here is a young boy doing needlework, presumably to give him something quiet to do while recovering from his illness, and his aunt is simply pleased that he had this to occupy him, and wants to see the result!
