Reading the newspaper.   Written by Mandy N (8/14/2011 12:01 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Echos of the novels, penned by kathleen (elder)
Are you new?

] Has your newspaper given a sad story of a Mrs Middleton, wife of a Farmer in Yorkshire, her sister & servent being almost frozen to death in the late weather-her little Child quite so? I hope this sister is not our friend Miss Woodd-...'

I always like reading domestic details in Jane's letters and, it is interesting to know Jane and Cassandra read the newspaper.
Letter #64 mentions a story Jane read. Apparently, she wonders if the newspaper's unhappy story refers to a friend!

I am also reminded the Dashwood ladies read newspapers at Barton Cottage sent up by Sir John in the novel,'Sense and Sensibility' (1811).
