A Regency Christmas   Written by Line (2/4/2010 1:49 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, No mention of Christmas?, penned by MarianneR
Are you new?

Others can answer this better than I can, but I know that in JA's time, Christmas was not the big child-centered, gift-giving celebration that it later became. If you recall, at the end of P&P Elizabeth invites the Gardiners to Pemberley for Christmas with no mention made of the children. Also, I wonder if being in mourning would affect the celebrations.
