Environmental Descriptions   Written by BarbaraB (2/2/2010 10:52 p.m.)
Are you new?

Not for the first time, I've noticed how detailed JA can be in describing setting in her letters. The weather in particular is often given to the minutest detail from the temperature as in mild, hot, etc., how sunny or cloudy, the precipitation: when it began and/or ended, the wind: what time it was blowing, how hard, and its direction. This, in my opinion, shows how much the scarcity of setting in her work must be a conscious choice.
