While I write now, George is most industriously making and naming paper ships, at which he afterwards shoots with horse-chestnuts brought from Steventon on purpose; and Edward equally intent over the "Lake of Killarney," twisting himself about in one of our great chairs.

What a warm picture of domestic comfort is painted in this short paragraph. The boys seem right at home.

The book Edward is reading,"The Lake of Killarney," is a novel in three volumes by Anna Maria Porter, published in 1804. Here is a synopsis Anna Maria Porter was a prolific poet and novelist and sister to the more popular author, Jane Porter.
