Very interesting, thank you!   Written by Cathy Allen (1/31/2010 2:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Rigid rules, penned by Myretta
Are you new?

As in so many things, the Victorian era again has overshadowed the Regency for me. Little by little I'm learning about JA's life and times, and it is fascinating to see what a different time it was from the Victorian era. Thank you!

This is most interesting information, Myretta. The picture is great -- even the baby is dressed in mourning; I'd never have thought about that without the picture. I also appreciate your educated guesses on what JA meant in her postscript, and about their own actual dress. Seems very plausible to me, and answers my question.

Thanks again,
Cathy Allen
