in consequence of the missive, Letter #59: details re funeral & mourning clothes, penned by kathleen (elder)
I was wondering in fact that JA could talk of Fanny's sense of duty rousing her to exertion and that for his sake...she will try to be tranquil and resigned at this time. The sudden death of Elizabeth has just occured five days ago. Isnīt that quite early to talk of duty and resignation? But perhaps people were just more familiar with death and mourning during that period, so that the step into every-day life was more easily taken... What do you think?
