This letter from JA to Cassandra is chattier (for want of a better word) than the previous. Jane tells Cassandra what clothes she will be sending to her for the mourning at Godmersham.
"I am to be in Bombazeen & Crape, according to what we are told is universal here; & which agrees with Martha's previous observation."
So it seems that some of the custom (re mourning clothes) is regional. Martha (Lloyd) had evidently been in Southampton before and seen what people wore during mourning.
The little bits in this letter that do not concern Godmersham sorrow include the "news" that Catherine Bigg is getting married soon and a note to Henry regarding sending items through him and then through Charles Austen to get to the son of Fulwar Fowles. Life goes on, even in the midst of death/sorrow.
