What strikes me... Written by Line (1/30/2010 5:55 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mourning for Elizabeth., penned by Mandy N

...is that at least twice in previous letters, JA wrote that she was glad to hear how well Elizabeth was doing, so the news of her death must have been all the more unexpected.
