Are you new?

I wondered about the letter delivery as well. James & Mary Austen got the news earlier, obviously, since they were the ones to notify Jane & Mrs Austen. Mary (w/ James?) started the letter to Southampton while still at Steventon and then finished it at Winchester, so they mailed the letter from Winchester (which is closer to Southampton than Steventon).
