What cold disagreeable weather, ever since Sunday! I dare say you have fires every day. My kerseymere spencer is quite the comfort of our evening walks.
I always love reading about the clothing during this period. Kerseymere is described as a fine woolen fabric with a close nap made in fancy twill weaves. A twilled fine woolen cloth with a peculiar texture derived from 1/3 of the warp being always above and 2/3 below each shoot of weft.
The spencer in this picture is a little later version than 1808, but close in appearance.
